you want me to share??

My husband and I own one lap top. That’s it. We don’t have a desktop, in fact never have. One, single lap top. It hasn’t always been this way, but circumstances changed…now we have to share!! Oh the horror!

We are usually very courteous about it. Obviously work or school trumps playing around.

“I need to finish my paper for class tomorrow sweetheart.”
“Oh, well by all means, please have the computer. I’ll just go clean something.”

“I really wanted to make up a worksheet for my lesson.”
“Of course, I was just reading stuff on ESPN. Your lesson is obviously more important.”

The problem comes when neither of us has anything “important” to do and both want to play on the computer. We’re addicts I tell you, ADDICTS!

“Can I use the computer?”
“Sure, when I’m done.”
“And when will that be?”
“After I revamp my myspace, update my blog, check all five emails, upload some new pictures…”
“That will take ages!!!”
“Oh and what you have to do is sooo much more important!”

Normal, loving human beings suddenly turn to sarcastic animals!

I know I am in the cycle of computer addiction when I stay up until 1 am just to have uninterrupted time on the computer. Not having a job has not helped with this. Honestly, when I have something to distract me I can go days without doing any more than checking my email. Now I have so much time on my hands and so much internet to explore! If only my selfish husband would stop hogging it to do stupid stuff like catch up on sports and play online games. Honestly!

LOL.

I am a computer addict. It all began when I married my video game addict husband and discovered that if I had something to entertain myself with I wouldn't nag him about playing games.

Unfortunately I'm way more addicted to the internet than he is to video games. But he's not here now so I'm the BOSS. And I say I can be on the internet as much as I want.

What?!?!

It's a valid hobby!

Be careful, many of us here have old hard drives, towers, and misc hardware laying about, and you just might end up with a second (and second-hand) computer, cobbled together from old parts.

I'm in for the video card. It's an nVidia GeForce 6800GT. Not cutting edge, but not old, either. I thought I'd fried it, so I bought a replacement, then it turned out it was the power supply that was bad. Let me know

Hahahaha. Be careful, many of us here have old hard drives, towers, and misc hardware laying about, and you just might end up with a second (and second-hand) computer, cobbled together from old parts. Would it surprise you to know it's happened before on JU? Several times

LOL This place really is incredible!! Really though, you guys should probably save your computers for someone who really needs it.

One question, straniera, I keep hearing you refer to Italy, are you in Europe or America?

We were in Italy, are now in America. We returned not too long ago which is why Italy is so fresh on my mind.

I might have disagreed with you a few months ago, but now... Look like we have something in common.

I too have an old CPU lying around collecting dust. let me know. it's not state of the art by far it's around 6 years old which means ancient in computer terms, but it will serve in a pinch.

I also have an old PC tower lying around but I don't know if it would be very economically viable for me to send it from Australia. Besides, you'd have to replace the power supply, provide a monitor etc. Still, if you're desperate, let me know.
